The Word Gobbler

Once upon a time,

In a land long ago

There was a child

Whose name was O

O was in love

with the water

and the land

They sang with the birds

and ran with the lambs

O slept under

The stars

And the moon

When one night

A tiny man

Crawled

Inside O's mouth

And held their tongue!

The man whispered in

O’s little ear

‘it was time to be a big girl now’

O was now

To dress in dresses

And wear long robes

But O just wanted

to sing with the birds

and the bees

All of a sudden

O became

Very hungry

O had lost her words!

Where had they gone?

O smelled a lovely flower

And found a man

Whose words were

Tall, Thin, And Yellow

O thought those words

sounded, and smelled very nice

So, she gobbled up his words

and spat them back out.

But when O spoke

She sounded just like the man

This was not O’s voice

But where were O’s words?

Then, O smelled a

sweet and delicious spice

And found a man

whose words were very nice

They were short and heavy,

rainbow coloured,

Very smelly

O thought they smelled very yummy

So, she gobbled up his words

and spat them back out.

But when O spoke

She sounded just like the man

This was not O’s voice

But where were O’s words?

She took all the wordsand stuck them on her body

Maybe if she put them on her skin she would find her words?

But this didn’t work either

O sighed. O began to feel blue

For eating up all the words

Then O came across

A helpful horse

The horse said to O

just look inside

and found she had the words in her belly

All this time!

And suddenly O could sing

All the men gathered around

To hear them sing

The most beautiful song

In all the land

O thanked the horse and went on their way

And once again O was in love with the land and the world

With the lambs and the trees and the bees and the birds

O had found their words

And their voice

And they never

Stopped singing

Day nor night
